Newcomers Alumnae hold strategic planning luncheon

Posted

The Newcomers Alumnae rang in the new year with their monthly luncheon at Marsh Landing Country Club on Jan. 5. Instead of a regular speaker, the time slot was dedicated to holding the club’s first strategic planning session in many years so that all the attendees could share thoughts and ideas about the future of the club and how to make it better.

Nancy Scott, club parliamentarian, ran this portion of the program. Multiple topics were discussed, including a name change to highlight the club’s social activity and membership quotas. Additionally, as the current fiscal year will draw to a close on June 30 and a new executive board and various committee chairs will step down, many members eagerly volunteered to “grab the baton” to replace outgoing board members.

Once the nominating committee does its work, a new slate of officers and committee chairs will be announced. During the strategic planning session, members feasted on caesar salad, chicken with penne alfredo and dessert.

The next monthly luncheon will be held on Feb. 2 at Marsh Landing Country Club, 25655 Marsh Landing Parkway, Ponte Vedra Beach. The cost to attend the luncheon is $23. Reservations must be made by contacting bartshar@comcast.net as soon as possible to reserve a seat. The guest speaker will be Stacey Pierce from Waste Pro USA. The company provides recycling and waste disposal services.
