Palm Valley Fest to feature Southern barbecue, storytelling

Southern barbecue, folk music and storytelling about Palm Valley’s early history will be among the activities happening at Saturday’s Palm Valley Fest.

To be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at the American Legion Post in Palm Valley, the event is being held in conjunction with the PV Greenway initiative. In addition to live folk music, the festival will feature barbecue, refreshments and the chance to enjoy stories shared by the descendants of early St. Johns County settlers. Among the featured storytellers will be local authors and historians including Sid Mickler, Bubba Stratton and Hugo Mickler. In addition, the Beaches History Museum will showcase storyboards with information about Palm Valley history. More than 100 people are expected at the event.
