The Ponte Vedra Sharks earned their first win of the season over the Beachside Barracudas on Sept. 11. After a substantial lightning delay, the Sharks were able to get the 24-7 victory.

Beachside had the first touchdown of the game, but the rest of the game belonged to Ponte Vedra.

Quarterback Carter Sole completed an 86-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Trey Smith from eight yards out making the score 7-7 at halftime.

The Shark’s defense turned in a stellar performance against Beachside and saw the return of senior Joey Muscas to the lineup. They were able to completely shut down the Barracudas offense in the second half with help from players like Carter Ottesen. Ottesen broke up a fourth down pass play early in the third quarter, which gave his team excellent field position.

Shark’s senior Alex Winkles had a big night on offense as he rushed for 115 yards in the game. Sole ended the game with 132 total yards and two touchdown passes.

Ponte Vedra will be on the road on Friday, Sept. 18, to take on the Fleming Island Golden Eagles.

The Barracudas will also be on the road on Sept. 18 to take on the Englewood Rams.

The Nease Panthers fell to the Mandarin Mustangs on Sept. 11 with a final score of 32-14. The Panthers are now 1-3 and will not return to the field until Sept. 24 when they take on Beachside at home.

The Creekside Knights bounced back from last week with a 38-17 win at home against the Tocoi Creek Toros on Sept. 11. The Knights are now 3-1 and 1-0 in district play. They will return home on Sept. 18 to take on the Bartram Trail Bears.
