The Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks (15-3) defeated St. Augustine (14-4) on Thursday in the regional quarterfinals of the state championship tournament with a final score of 21-10.
With the game held at the Shark Tank, Ponte Vedra came out fast and took a 14-4 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Lady Sharks continued their domination of the Yellow Jackets.
Senior midfielder Ella Madson led Ponte Vedra with six goals, one assist, three groundballs and seven draw controls. Junior attack Abbey Watson had four goals, four assists and three groundballs, while sophomore midfielder Sami Lowinger finished with four goals, one assist, eight draw controls and three groundballs.
The Lady Sharks will host Hagerty High School Monday, April 29, at 7 p.m. at home in the regional semifinals.
