St. Johns County, the wealthiest county in Florida, just got a little richer.

Ponte Vedra resident Carolyn Morris, age 70, claimed her share of the $650,000 Lucky Money jackpot from the Aug. 11 drawing at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee Tuesday, Sept. 19.

According to Florida Lottery officials, Morris opted to receive her winnings in a single lump-sum payment of $245,390.97. One of two jackpot winners, she purchased her Quick Pick ticket from the GATE gas station at 10970 U.S. Highway 1 North in Ponte Vedra.

The other winning ticket, purchased in Zephyrhills, was claimed Aug. 14. Total ticket sales for that particular jackpot generated more than $746,000 for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

Lucky Money jackpots start at $500,000 and, if there isn’t a winner, can roll over to up to $2 million. Drawings are held on Tuesday and Friday nights at 11:15 p.m. For more information, visit www.flalottery.com
