Island attire and cool ocean breezes accompanied by the beat of Caribbean music made for the perfect evening for the Ponte Vedra Woman’s Club final fundraiser of the current year.
Held at Emily Longhino’s home inside Sawgrass Country Club, the purpose of the evening was not only to have fun but to raise money for the charities the club supports. The event’s live auction featured two trips to Africa along with silent auction items.
This year, the ladies raised funds for Betty Griffin Center, the STEM conference for girls in fifth through eighth grade, Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, St. Augustine Youth Services, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, and scholarships. Checks will be given out at the May meeting, and the charities for next year will be announced.
Nancy Marsh, Michelle Purdy and Susan Hardy were largely responsible for organizing the event, in addition to Longhino, who hosted it.
