Retired FBI agent speaker at Newcomers Alumnae luncheon

Posted

Michael Heard, a 28-year veteran of the FBI, was the guest speaker at the Newcomers Alumnae luncheon on Feb. 3 at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Heard related details of his most dangerous investigations involving violent crimes and counterterrorism, taking him throughout the United States and Cuba. He also addressed the changing climate within the FBI in recent years.

Heard gave the group some helpful tips:  always be aware of your surroundings, keep your purse with you while shopping, always look at the person walking by you, and if someone demands your keys or purse, throw the items as far away as possible and run.

He explained where guns should be kept, the best gun to buy, when to have a gun and rights regarding when to use and not to use a gun.

The next monthly luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3 at Marsh Landing Country Club, 25655 Marsh Landing Parkway, Ponte Vedra Beach. Reservations for lunch must be made by emailing bartshar@comcast.net before Feb. 25.
