Parents of student athletes in grades four through 12 are invited to a free in-person seminar, “Raising Resilient Student Athletes Today,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Momentum Fit, 5150 Palm Valley Road, Suite 103, Ponte Vedra Beach.

The seminar will be hosted by Danny Witt, who is a Racket Sports Professional Association Certified Pro. He is a member of University of North Florida Hall of Fame and former All-American tennis player. He has helped develop competitive tennis players across Northeast Florida for more than 25 years and has guided students from beginner levels to NCAA Division 1 competition.

Marie Merritt and Robin Mignerey will be speaking as well.

Merritt is a former D1 soccer player at University of South Florida. She is also a certified personal trainer and wellness coach and has worked with collegiate and professional athletes for 20 years. Mignerey is a former D1 volleyball player and athletic hall of famer at Clemson. She coached volleyball at Jacksonville University, JJVA and Ponte Vedra High School.

“The seminar is an opportunity to educate parents on the challenges and rewards of raising a student athlete,” Witt said.

Confidence plays a big role in sports and instilling that confidence in kids is critical to helping them succeed. Confidence is the key to self-motivation and determination.

“I believe that parents will learn about having a plan to help their kids reach their goals while being realistic with expectations and keeping the journey fun,” Witt said.

Witt will also host Holiday Preseason Camps for all levels ages 6 and up. Witt said that it’s a great opportunity for middle- and high-school students to have fun during the holiday break while fine-tuning their skills for the upcoming season. Younger kids will have fun playing games that help with skill building. The camp dates are Dec. 22-23 and Dec. 29-30 and will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ponte Vedra High School courts.
