Retiring after two careers, Lou Pugliese decided to try his hand at writing a novel. After sending the completed manuscript to dozens of agents and publishers, he learned the difficulties of finding a traditional publisher.
He spent the next two years crafting another mystery novel, “Blame It On the Moon,” and decided to self-publish.
Pugliese will offer essential tips to other writers seeking a path to publication at the Ponte Vedra Writers meeting, 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
He believes his career as a senior manager with Toyota Motors and later as a business professor at a small liberal arts college gave him a good foundation for writing and publishing. In his talk, “One Man’s Journey from Retirement to Becoming an Author to Committing to Self-Publishing,” he will share his experiences working with cover artists and formatters and creating a winning marketing plan. His mantra is: “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood.”
With that in mind, attendees will enjoy his mix of wit and wisdom.
The Ponte Vedra Writers group is part of the Florida Writers Association, a statewide membership organization supporting aspiring and published writers in any genre. The April 26 meeting is free and open to members and nonmembers alike.
