St. Augustine Film Festival kicks off this weekend

Posted

Calling all film buffs: the St. Augustine Film Festival kicks off Jan. 29. The three-day festival will be hosted at Flagler College and The Corazon Cinema & Café through Jan. 31.

Among the films being screened at this year’s festival, now in its sixth year, are two 2016 Oscar nominees: “THEEB” nominated for best foreign picture and “CHAU, Beyond the Lines” nominated for best short documentary.

In addition to the more than 30 films being shown at this year’s festival, 10 Flagler College student films will be screened on Friday, Jan. 29.

The SAFF is presented by Flagler College and funded in part by the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council and other sponsors, including founding sponsors, Barbra and Arnold Grevior, longtime supporters of the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, now in its 29th year. The Greviors desired to provide a similar type of film festival experience for the St. Augustine area.

The films will be screened at five venues: the Lewis Auditorium and the Gamache Theatre located at Flagler College, and three screens at The Corazon Cinema & Café.

Individual tickets to the showings are $10 per person ($8 for student, military or senior). Special film passes are also available for purchase. The “All Films Plus” package which includes admittance to all films and the Saturday and Sunday after parties are available for $95, and the “All Films” pass is available $70. The all access pass has already sold out.

Individual tickets for films showing at the Lewis Auditorium are available for purchase online. All other individual tickets may be purchased 10 minutes prior to showtime at the venue to persons in the standby line, subject to availability.
All pass holders receive priority admittance into all film screenings on a first come, first serve basis. It is highly recommended to be in line early for films screened at the Corazon and the Gamache Theatres where seating is limited.
