St. Johns Volleyball Club (SJVC) is getting ready to open the first youth volleyball training facility in St. Johns County.
This new facility will be a state-of-the-art training environment that will feature a 5,000-square-foot-weight room and a meditation room.
Andor Gyulai and his business partner and wife, Vanessa Summers-Gyulai, moved to St. Johns County four years ago from California and have never looked back.
“This community has been so welcoming,” said Vanessa.
In 2009, they launched Volleyball1on1.com, the first ever volleyball video coaching website online.
Gyulai spent his collegiate career at UCLA and won two National Championships in 1996 and 1998. Vanessa is the author of three financial books titled “The Girl’s Guide to Money & Investing,” “Buying Solo — The Single Woman’s Guide to Buying a Home” and “The Yoga of Money.”
The couple have a life-sized passion for the game of volleyball, which is evident in everything that they do. The gym floor in the new facility will feature cameras that are on a 30-second delay and screens so that athletes can watch themselves and correct errors.
The gym will also feature a sound system so that the athlete can train while listening to music.
“The best way to create energy is through music,” Gyulai said.
There will also be speakers and microphones for all coaches so they can communicate effectively with their athletes.
“We are building something special that is going to be here for a long time,” said Gyulai.
Gyulai’s mission is to teach life lessons through the game of volleyball and help his athletes reach their full potential.
“Here Is Only We” is one of the mottos at SJVC, which will be featured throughout the new facility. “We are really focused on building a sense of community,” said Gyulai.
Vanessa is the perfect complement to her husband’s vision. Volleyball is predominantly a female sport, and she and her husband understand the importance of the role they play.
“My life’s mission has been to empower women, and we choose to do that through our female youth,” she said.
The couple’s goal is to empower their athletes to live life to its fullest potential both on and off the court. “This is our small ripple in the pond of how we add value to the world,” said Vanessa.
