Grammy nominated recording artists The Nelons and Michael English will join other gospel artists for a performance at the Dinsmore Baptist Church Saturday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. as part of The Sing Tour.

Together, The Nelons and English represent more than 75 years in Christian music.

“It will be a lot of fun,” Kelly Nelon Clark of The Nelons said. “Not only will we be singing the classics that have stood the test of time, we will also share many wonderful and interesting stories behind these timeless songs.”

The musical ministry of The Nelons was formed after family patriarch, the late Rex Nelon, had already enjoyed a 20-year career as a member of the legendary The LeFevres. The Nelons have been singing hit songs and bridging the traditional sounds of gospel music with contemporary influences, that has been known to inspire listeners of all ages for decades. The group, which was recently inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame, has enjoyed much success as part of the Gaither Homecoming Tour and Video Series.

English is known as one of the most powerful communicators in Christian music. As a young teen he sang with his father and brother, and shortly after high school graduation, joined his first full-time quartet, The Singing Americans. In 1985, English joined the Gaither Vocal Band. His popularity led to addiction and a spiral into depression that he chronicles in his autobiography, “The Prodigal Comes Home.” After a life-changing encounter with God, English’s career came full circle. Today, he continues to perform solo concerts, sharing the message of grace found through Christ.

In addition to The Nelons and English, the evening will also feature female vocalist Amber Nelon Thompson, who travels full-time with The Nelons. Thompson has established a solo career with multiple releases, and was named as the youngest Dove Award nominee in history by the Gospel Music Association.

Jeff Stice, a six-time recipient of the Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Musician, will also perform.

The Dinsmore Baptist Church is located at 10500 Old Kings Road in Jacksonville. Tickets start at $16. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (904) 422-3163 or visit www.lifelineconcerts.com.
