Musical Madness for Kids
May 2 (Brass Quintet) and May 28 (String Quartet), from 4 to 5 p.m.
Presented by the Jacksonville Symphony and sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, these ensemble presentations feature live performances and opportunities to learn about the instruments and the musicians. These events are aimed at elementary-aged children. If you wish to bring younger children to any of these programs, the library asks that you be mindful of the decorum expected for everyone’s enjoyment. All children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the room for the duration of these events.
May the FOURTH Be with You
May 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Children’s Department (drop-in event)
The whole family is invited to dive into all things Star Wars at this drop-in event in the library’s Children’s Department. Take your picture with your favorite Star Wars heroes; create a Star Wars bookmark and color Star Wars scenes; check out one or a dozen books from the library’s Star Wars display; grab a Star Wars sticker before you leave; and more. Costumes/dress-up are encouraged, but not required. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
Just for Teens Gaming Club (ages 13-18)
Wednesdays, May 8, June 5, July 3 and Aug. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Teens ages 13-18 are invited to dive into video games and board games with their friends. Video games using the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo WiiU and PlayStation3 will be set up on separate TVs for simultaneous playing. Snacks are provided. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
Summer Reading Event – DoDad’s Lab
June 6 at 2 p.m. and at 4 p.m. (repeat presentation)
Soar to new heights and learn about science during this engaging presentation. Elementary school children and their caregivers are invited to join DoDad and dive into the wonderful world of science. Younger children are welcome, but supervision is required. All children ages 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the room for the duration of this event. The second presentation is a repeat of the first. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
Teen Lounge (ages 13 - 18)
Wednesdays, June 12, June 26, July 10, July 24 and July 31 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Teens ages 13–18 are invited to join the library for its weekly summertime Teen Lounge featuring either a PG-13 movie night, video gaming, board gaming or just hanging out with your friends. Snacks are provided. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
