You know and love Ellie Bing for its classic elegance with a twist. The Ponte Vedra store regularly welcomes customers with new and unique merchandise in its Sawgrass Village location, but the Ellie Bing name is expanding.
Sheila Harper and her business partner, Joe Buccellato, officially opened Ellie Bing: The Backroom in March of this year, inviting new and returning customers to experience vintage elegance with a twist.
“I wanted to do something completely different and fun,” said Harper. “The idea is that there’s something for everybody. There are different price points, and from an environmental perspective, we’re repurposing things.”
Ellie Bing: The Backroom is a carefully curated collection of one-of-a-kind vintage items meant to spark your imagination and add more eclectic charm to your life. Customers can expect vintage jewelry, accessories, artwork, home decor, furniture and much more.
Harper and Buccellato travel the state to find interesting pieces of treasure and breathe new life into them by finding a new home on the Backroom’s floor. You never know what kind of timeless pieces you’ll spot as you walk through the doors.
“When I first opened Ellie Bing in 2009, it was vintage jewelry, so I’ve gone back to my roots, but with more furniture, decor, mirrors, lighting and art,” Harper said. “I've had a lot of old customers saying, ‘Oh, you're back to your roots.’”
No two visits will ever quite be the same, as the Backroom’s inventory is always changing, but that sense of unpredictability is part of the charm. It’s a place where a quick stop can turn into an afternoon of exploration.
Whether you’re hunting for a conversation-starting lamp or the perfect finishing touch for your coffee table, the store offers plenty of reasons to linger.
Ellie Bing: The Backroom is bringing vintage charm to Jax Beach with its storefront at 21 12th St. South. The store’s hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment.
The goal for the Backroom’s future is to continue curating uncommon retro pieces while offering customers pieces worthy of conversation. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time, it’s a place where the past feels right at home in the present.
