Waypoint Church, the second congregation of Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church (PVPC), will soon join the landscape of community worship in Nocatee. PVPC has been a part of the Ponte Vedra community for 26 years and is well known for their annual Bethlehem visit, an 8,000-square-foot recreation of the city of Bethlehem, as well as their Sunrise Easter Services held at Mickler’s Beach.
The 20-acre campus of Waypoint Church is located behind Valley Ridge Academy in the Greenleaf community of Nocatee. Through the extravagant generosity of the PVPC congregation, over $2.1 million have been given to start Waypoint Church, with an additional $1.5 million pledged.
This campus will also be home to Promisetown Preschool of Nocatee. Promisetown Preschool of Ponte Vedra Beach has a strong reputation for nurturing young children in a grace-centered environment. The preschool will open in August 2016.
Waypoint Church will be led by Jim Huster. Huster, also known as the surfing church planter, is originally from Jacksonville. He became a Christian as a 16 year old at a Young Life camp in North Carolina. This served as a catalyst for some wonderful adventures, including youth ministry in the Carolinas for 14 years, and church planting in San Diego. He loves spending time at the beach with his wife, children and friends.
Waypoint Church is a gospel-centered group of followers of Christ, who are committed to living in authentic fellowship with the sole purpose of glorifying God. As a congregation in the Presbyterian Church of America, Waypoint Church celebrates the authority of Scripture, the need for the gospel, and the call to share the Good News.
Until Waypoint Church’s first service, Nocatee residents and the community in general is invited to join PVPC for their Sunday weekly services at 9:00 and 10:30. Christmas Eve services are at 4:00 and 5:30. PVPC is located at 4510 Palm Valley Rd. Ponte Vedra Beach.
