Dramatic reading of ‘All the Angels Come’ at Players by the Sea

Players by the Sea will present a dramatic reading and performance of “All the Angels Come” Friday, Aug. 26 and Saturday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m.

Originally written in novel format by Jim Alabiso and set in the River City, it was adapted for the stage for a public staged reading by Barbara Colaciello. 

This dramatic staged reading of Part I will be scored by the Bold City Contemporary Ensemble. The “All the Angels Come” art series by MWill will be auctioned and prints will be available for sale. Proceeds will finance the project and supply needed goods to homeless community members.

Local activities to mark National Park Service centennial

The National Park Service will celebrated its 100th birthday on Thursday, Aug. 25. Locally, St. Augustine’s Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments will host a number of events to mark the occasion.

From Aug. 25-28, entrance to Castillo de San Marcos National Monument will be free. In addition, the stories of Castillo de San Marcos will be broadcast worldwide by SAARS volunteers Aug. 25 as part of National Parks on the Air, in partnership with the St. Augustine Amateur Radio Society and the American Radio Relay League. 

The Florida Public Archeology Network also will host special hands-on activities at Castillo de San Marcos from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, join the St. Augustine Youth Chorus for performances of the NPS Centennial Song, “Children’s Earth Anthem,” and other patriotic favorites in celebration of the National Park Service’s 100th birthday. Performances are free and will take place in the inner courtyard of Castillo de San Marcos. Performances will take place at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. and last approximately 20 minutes each.

Other special birthday weekend activities will take place Aug. 27 and 28. Visitors can experience historic weapons firing demonstrations, become Centennial Junior Rangers, and participate in games and activities at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. On Sunday, Aug. 28, the Florida Public Archaeology Network will host additional activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Katz 4 Keeps adoption days will take place Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Katz 4 Keeps, 935B A1A N. in Ponte Vedra Beach (next to Sherwin Williams). The BookMark 26th birthday party

The BookMark will celebrate its 26th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The day’s activities will kick off with a 9 a.m. story time with Miss Pat, suitable for children ages 3-8. Mayport Village Story Tellers

The Beaches Museum & History Park presents Mayport Village Story Tellers Saturday, Aug. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Beaches Museum lobby. The event will feature three storytellers that will spin tales of life and adventure in the village as part of the museum’s current exhibit, “Mayport Village: On the River of Change.” Refreshments will be available. ‘National Parks Adventure 3D’ at IMAX

World Golf Village IMAX Theater will hold two screenings of “National Parks Adventure 3D” Saturday, Aug. 27. National Park rangers from several area parks will give ranger talks prior to each screening.
