J. Johnson Gallery announces F R I E N D S, a diverse group exhibition featuring a variety of artists who have exhibited with the gallery over the past fifteen years. The show’s opening reception on Friday, Jan. 29 from 6- 8 p.m. will benefit the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, and the public is invited to attend with a $10 per person suggested donation to the organization at the door. ‘The Grapes of Wrath’

St. Augustine Film Festival

The St. Augustine Film Festival kicks off Jan. 29. The three-day festival will be hosted at Flagler College and The Corazon Cinema & Café through Jan. 31. ‘Cotton Alley’ at Players by the Sea

2016 Beach Ball benefitting BEAM

The Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) Beach Ball is Saturday, Jan. 30 from 7-11 p.m. at the Atlantic Beach Country Club, 1600 Selva Marina Dr., Atlantic Beach. The night will include heavy hors d’oeurves, beer and wine, a cash bar and live music from Cloud 9. The attire is “fancy with flip flops.” Tickets are $150 per person. Proceeds benefit BEAM programs. Family Seining Activity

On the last Saturday of every month from 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., visitors can pull a seine net through Guana Lake and then learn about the species they collect. Waders, boots, and all other necessary gear will be provided. The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve located at 505 Guana River Road in Ponte Verdra Beach hosts monthly events that the whole family can enjoy together.
