What's Happening at the link

Posted

There’s a lot going on at the link. Here’s a look at the latest news.

Link launches community library, reading incentive

The link has announced that it is launching a community library for members. It will be operated using the books donated by the community and will be based on an honor system.

As part of this, the link will also launch an online platform designed to motivate the readers – both youth and adults – to read and learn from their peers. A monthly program called “the link Gives Back” is being created for the students through gifts and scholarships based on the book reviews they submit, presentations they give on stage, and how they are moved into action, projects and ideas sparked by their reading.

The link invites all the bookworms and readers as well as existing book clubs in Nocatee and surrounding St. Johns County areas to donate their new and lightly used books, take part and utilize this new community library at the link as a resource for their family’s learning journey.

“We are looking forward to creating a space to explore books and new ideas, as well as instill a life-long love of reading,” according to management at the link. “We are turning the first page on this new program based on our blooming community of thinkers, readers and families. We can’t wait to see what is in the next chapter for this exciting new story.”

eSports League Launch

The link is collaborating with little eLeague and hosting a complimentary night of PC gaming on Friday, Oct. 1, starting at 6 p.m. to launch a new venture bringing e-sports to St. Johns County residents. Interested people are invited to come hang out, play games and learn about upcoming e-sports leagues that will be starting soon at the link.

The primary focus is coaching, mentoring and training youth players between the ages of 8 and 18. In addition, the link eventually plans to host adult events in the future. More information will come soon.

Little eleague is a competitive team gaming league for youth with a mission to foster IRL (in real life) social interactions for youth through “Coaching, Connections and Competitions” using e-sports as the glue. The emphasis is on teamwork, communication and sportsmanship that support healthy competition. Scholarship and career pathways are explored and coaches mentor players through their gaming experiences.
