The Borland Groover Foundation’s 2026 March To Get Screened 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run brought together more than 800 participants on Sunday, March 29, raising more than $100,000 to support colon cancer awareness, patient assistance and access to colorectal cancer screenings in Northeast Florida.

Held at the Borland Groover Durbin Crossing Endoscopy Center in St. Johns, the annual event has become the region’s largest digestive health fundraiser, uniting patients, physicians, families and community members around a shared mission to promote early detection and prevention.

“Early detection makes all the difference,” said Community Outreach Manager Carole Rogero of Borland Groover. “Seeing our community come together in such a meaningful way reinforces the importance of screening beginning at age 45 and helps ensure more people have access to care.”

Funds raised through March To Get Screened support the Borland Groover Foundation’s efforts to:

  • Provide financial assistance of up to $5,000 for cancer treatment for eligible patients
  • Expand access to screening through colonoscopy vouchers for underinsured individuals
  • Distribute educational resources throughout the community

In the past three years alone, the foundation has helped more than 150 patients receive screenings through its BG Cares program.

The event also supports Borland Groover’s “This Is 45” initiative, encouraging adults to begin colorectal cancer screening at age 45 in accordance with national guidelines.
