An anticipated holiday event on the First Coast every year is the Christmas show at the Alhambra Theatre & Dining in Jacksonville.
And this year’s feature, A Christmas Story The Musical, captures both the essence of being together with family during the Christmas season while also capturing funny times and memories that accompany it.
The popular story from the 1983 film which has so many fans was told in a creative way but while still holding true to the parts of the film that have become so beloved over the years.
It is a hilarious coming-of-age story of a young boy growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s and in search of the perfect Christmas gift.
Keegan Carroll was excellent in his role as Ralphie Parker, which he called his dream role in his fourth production at the Alhambra.
The search for the perfect Christmas gift is something that parents and children can relate with, which makes the show one that can be shared and enjoyed across generations and why it has not only stood the test of time but became a holiday classic in the process.
Craig Sherman of Los Angeles made his first appearance at the Alhambra playing Ralphie’s dad, while Jennifer Medure played the role of Ralphie’s mom.
Sherman and Medure embraced their roles on stage both with their acting skills and musical accompaniment.
One of the aspects that really brought the show to life was Jonathan Van Dyke who was a major part in the narration of the play and really helped lay the groundwork for the story line throughout.
The Christmas shows are always the most popular on the schedule each year and are known to sell out well in advance of the start date.
The Alhambra’s 2025 schedule has been released and next year’s Christmas feature is Elf The Musical and tickets for it go on sale to the public on Jan. 2.
Tickets to the Alhambra are always something that make a great idea for a Christmas gift either for the whole family to enjoy together or as a setting for a memorable date night.
