Located just off the northeastern coast of Florida, Amelia Island has been voted No. 2 among the “Best Islands in the Continental U.S.” by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine, one of the most popular travel publications in the world.
This is the seventh consecutive year Amelia Island has made the magazine’s “World’s Best Awards” list, celebrating its 30th Anniversary.
Amelia Island’s No. 2 ranking puts the destination in excellent company, including Mount Desert Island, Maine (No. 1); Mackinac Island, Michigan; Golden Isles, Georgia; and San Juan Islands, Washington.
“Being named one of the best islands in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure readers for the seventh consecutive year is both a tremendous honor and a testament to everything that makes Amelia Island so special,” said Gil Langley, president and CEO of the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau. “To once again earn the No. 2 spot highlights the island’s enduring appeal — from our breathtaking natural beauty and vibrant cultural experiences to the remarkable dedication of our local tourism and hospitality community. We’re proud to share this recognition with our residents, partners and the many travelers from around the world who return year after year.”
The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, one of the island’s top-rated resorts, was also recognized by the readers of Travel + Leisure, being voted No. 10 among the “Best Resorts in Florida.”
The World’s Best Awards is a travel awards program run by Travel + Leisure and based on an annual reader survey. The prestigious annual awards honor the top travel destinations, hotels and companies worldwide. The winners appear in the August issue of Travel + Leisure magazine.
