bestbet’s three locations in Jacksonville, Orange Park and St. Augustine joined forces this holiday season to give back to the communities that have supported them over the past 21 years.
Staff partnered with First Coast Habitat for Humanity, previously known as HabiJax, and the Betty Griffin Center to help support local families in need. bestbet currently employs more than 900 residents of Northeast Florida. A cornerstone of its organizational ethos is constant investment back into the community.
While bestbet sponsors many community events and charitable organizations, staff decided to take a more hands-on approach to the company’s holiday giving.
“We are so very happy to support and be part of the great work and efforts that HabiJax, now First Coast Habitat for Humanity, brings to our Jacksonville community,” said Jamie Shelton, bestbet president. “We’re also proud to help make the holidays brighter for families who are utilizing the Betty Griffin Center’s life-saving services in St. Johns County. bestbet is beyond grateful to be a part of the Northeast Florida community and to give back to our neighbors and friends.”
A group of bestbet staff joined First Coast Habitat for Humanity to install windows into a housing project in Jacksonville. Since March 1988, First Coast Habitat has worked in Duval, Nassau and Baker counties, bringing people together to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
This multifaceted organization also advocates for affordable housing and fair housing policies to help families improve their housing conditions across three Florida counties. First Coast Habitat for Humanity is one of the most successful Habitat for Humanity affiliates and has helped close to 2,400 families achieve the dreams of homeownership.
bestbet also partnered with the Betty Griffin Center in St. Augustine for its Adopt-A-Family program.
The Betty Griffin Center offers safe and secure shelter for victims of domestic and sexual abuse, operates a 24-hour help line, provides professional counseling for victims of domestic and sexual abuse, and provides age-appropriate violence prevention training.
bestbet adopted three families residing at the Betty Griffin Center and set up Christmas trees at each of its three locations, where staff could purchase and donate items from each family’s wish list.
