St. Johns Sheriff’s Office Director of Corrections Jason Caban has joined the Betty Griffin Center Board of Directors — with board officers also announced for the 2025-26 Fiscal Year.

Caban, who has served in a variety of positions at the Sheriff’s Office since he joined the force in 1997, currently manages a staff of more than 200 in the corrections division, which is responsible for about 400 inmates.

A resident of St. Augustine, Caban also served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot and flight instructor from 1989 to 1995.

“We are pleased that we continue to have a connection with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office on the board, and the experience Jason brings to our organization,” said Betty Griffin Center CEO Kelly Franklin. “We also want to thank Commander Bill Werle, who represented the Sheriff’s Office on our board, for his contributions over the last six years.”

Betty Griffin Center board officers who will serve through the 2025-26 term include board chair Melissa Angulo and vice chair Julie Watson, along with returning officers Lauren Howington as treasurer and Karen Worth as secretary.
