Camps to keep kids busy during winter break

Posted

Winter break is just around the corner, and parents looking to keep their children engaged and learning during the holiday season have two exciting options to consider. The winter camps at the link in Nocatee offer a blend of creativity, hands-on activities and fun designed for children of various ages, making this break both enjoyable and educational.

The Cooking and Art Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 23, 26 and 27 with half-day options available. Geared for children ages 5 to 12, this camp blends artistic exploration with culinary adventures under the guidance of Miss Kara.

Children will dive into activities like mastering the ancient art of marbling to create mesmerizing designs on leaves, rocks and scarves. They will explore food arts and science with projects such as making solar s’mores or creating magic with milk and dish soap.

Additionally, campers will design resin trays for serving or storage, craft vibrant home decor items, and prepare delicious recipes like Parmesan chicken, taco soup and edible cookie dough. Each day promises new projects, and children will bring home their creations daily.

For tech savvy kids ages 7 to 12, the LEGO Robotics, Drones and Carrera Slot Cars Camp also runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 23, 26 and 27. This camp is designed to inspire young adventurers with action-packed activities that promote creativity and teamwork.

Campers will engage in LEGO robotics coding challenges, where they will build and program LEGO Spike Prime robots to tackle exciting tasks. They will navigate drones through obstacle courses and compete in high-speed slot car races. Campers will also engage in foam wars, where participants gear up with helmets and vests for friendly team battles, promoting collaboration and teamwork.

This immersive experience is a perfect opportunity for children to explore new interests and develop problem-solving skills.

Both camps provide an enriching environment that helps children stay active and inspired during the winter break. The activities are thoughtfully designed to blend fun with learning, ensuring kids return to school energized and ready to embrace new challenges.
