A fatal crash occurred Sunday on Ponte Vedra Boulevard at approximately 12:15 a.m.
According to the crash report from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO), two men were riding in a Ferrari headed north, approaching the intersection of Sawgrass Drive East, when the vehicle hit a curb, causing the driver to lose control, slide and strike a power pole, utility box and multiple trees. Tennessee residents James Richardson, 42, and Jeffery Richmond Jr., 41, were ejected from the vehicle. Richardson was pronounced deceased at Beaches Baptist hospital, while Richmond remained hospitalized at Memorial Hospital.
Neither occupant was registered to the vehicle. In fact, the car was registered to a Ponte Vedra Beach resident who lives on Ponte Vedra Boulevard. SJSO said investigators are still working on determining who was driving.
