Dr. Charles Greene, president of Jacksonville ENT Surgery, has been named a 2016 Health Care Hero by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Each year, the Journal honors medical professionals in Northeast Florida who have improved health care and saved lives. Greene, a board-certified otolaryngology head and neck surgeon, was chosen in the surgery category.

“I am grateful to be considered a Health Care Hero and honored to be included alongside some of the area’s health leaders,” he said. “I strive to provide my patients the very best care and continually look for new and more efficient ways to treat my patients and cut down on their recovery time.”

Greene is credited with bringing balloon sinuplasty technology to North Florida and with being the first to transition the procedure into the doctor’s office. He founded Jacksonville ENT Surgery in May 2002, building the practice into the largest private ENT practice in North Florida with six providers, five offices, three hearing and balance centers and 40 employees.

Active in the community, Greene serves on the board of directors for the Northeast Florida Medical Society and the Northeast Florida Research Institute. He is the former director of health policy studies at the Florida Center for Public Policy and Leadership at the University of North Florida. He is also currently on the board of directors for We Care Jacksonville.

Dr. Greene and his fellow Health Care Hero Award winners were honored at the 13th Annual Healthcare Heroes Awards breakfast on Thursday, Nov. 17.
