Foxtail Coffee Co. is “dedicated to responsibly sourcing and roasting some of the finest coffees from around the world,” said Ty Claggett, the company’s co-franchise owner in Jacksonville. In addition to delicious coffee, Foxtail provides a welcoming, community-centric atmosphere and serves craft coffee, espresso, sandwiches, pastries, Kelly’s Ice Cream and beer and wine at some locations.
Foxtail is unique for its quality and consistency. Its beans are locally roasted in Florida and ethically sourced and their Nitro Cold Brew is prepared in-house. Each location offers a great atmosphere for families and working professionals.
Claggett said he and his business partner, Doug Tutwiler, visited the original Foxtail Coffee location in Winter Park, Florida, and “fell in love with all aspects of the brand.” He said that he especially liked the excellent product quality and local vibe. After their visit, “we knew that Foxtail was something special, and we were confident that it would resonate throughout the First Coast as well. So, in 2021, we got to work on making that happen!”
Claggett said he has always had a passion for coffee and enjoys the community gathering aspect of the business. He served as a food and beverage director for a hotel after college. Then, he went to law school and was a practicing attorney in the financial services industry for 10 years. However, he felt unfulfilled in the corporate world and jumped at the opportunity to be help Foxtail’s growth in the First Coast.
When asked what he likes best about what he does, Claggett said, “Serving best in class craft coffee and community engagement.” He and his wife have four kids and a large extended family in the area. Tutwiler and his wife and five kids live locally in Ponte Vedra. They both love their team and take pride in being a locally owned-and-operated business.
Foxtail Coffee has been very busy with opening new locations across the First Coast over the last few years. Their newest location is at 3791 Palm Valley Road, by the Publix and the roundabout on the way to Mickler’s Beach. Later in 2026, the company has exciting plans to open a Foxtail Coffee Truck to serve customers through special event requests!
