Hispanic Chamber announces award winners

The First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FCHCC) celebrated the region’s top Hispanic professionals, entrepreneurs and community champions Dec. 11 during the 2025 Excellence in Business, Talentos Hispanos Awards at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront.

Approximately 250 guests attended the gala, creating a joyful, high-energy atmosphere where volunteers, staff, winners and supporters came together for a night of celebration and unified support for FCHCC, and they were all presented under the theme “Club Buenavista,” honoring the rhythm, elegance and heritage of Cuba. The annual awards recognize the economic impact, leadership and innovation of Hispanic talent shaping Northeast Florida.

This year’s program featured remarks from FCHCC President Monica Hernandez, video remarks from Mayor Donna Deegan and presentations by speakers Ruben Garcia Alvarez, David Harrell and Annie Grogan.

Sponsors included VyStar Credit Union, Fisher Tousey, Bank of America, PQH Group, Arlington Toyota, Jacksonville Transportation Authority and Daysi Jacobson Accounting, among others.

The Chamber recognized the following honorees:

  • Community Advocate of the Year: Ingrid Carias. Director of ESOL, dual language and world languages for Duval County Public Schools, Carias has supported Achieving the Dream students for years and continues to elevate language access and academic success across the district.
  • Corporate Business of the Year: VyStar Credit Union. Award accepted by Pablo DeSandi. VyStar has demonstrated long-standing support for Hispanic entrepreneurs and community development through strategic partnerships and financial education.
  • Small Business of the Year: Paola Parra Harris. Founder of a bilingual family-law practice nearing its 10-year anniversary, Paola Parra Harris is known for her outstanding advocacy.
  • Business Leader of the Year: Rebecca González, 1928 Cuban Bistro. Through her leadership, González, who owns of a popular culinary brand inspired by her Cuban grandparents, has expanded the bistro into multiple locations while preserving culture and creating jobs across Northeast Florida.
  • Nonprofit of the Year: Ed Pérez, founder and CEO of Three Grains of Rice Missions, a nonprofit dedicated to serving families in need. His mission-driven work provides housing, food, clothing and education to vulnerable communities.
  • Woman in Business: Daysi Jacobson, founder and CEO of Daysi Jacobson Accounting LLC and Jacobson Wealth Builders. Her two decades of experience and former IRS background have positioned her as a trusted expert in tax strategy and financial literacy.
  • Up & Coming Business: David’s Restaurant & Lounge. David Echeverri is owner and executive chef. His creative fusion of Colombian heritage and modern cuisine has established his restaurant as a fine-dining standout in the region.
  • Rising Star Award: Devin Carvajal, creative content manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars. His work in visual storytelling includes major campaigns, team branding and a children’s book collaboration. He was recently named Best Graphic Designer in Jacksonville.

The Excellence in Business Awards honor the professional achievements and growing influence of Hispanic businesses across Northeast Florida. Under the leadership of Hernandez, FCHCC continues to expand programs that elevate entrepreneurs, strengthen partnerships and highlight the region’s economic diversity.

FCHCC provides resources, programs, and opportunities that support business growth and professional advancement throughout Northeast Florida. The Chamber has been recognized twice as Chamber of the Year by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for its ongoing leadership and impact.
