Lightner Museum launches new digital guide

The Lightner Museum recently unveiled its new digital guide on Bloomberg Connects, expanding access to the museum’s art, history and architecture. The Lightner is the first museum in Northeast Florida to join Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app featuring more than 1,000 cultural organizations worldwide.

Made possible with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, the new guide offers an engaging and accessible way to explore the Lightner Museum’s collections, exhibitions and programs, as well as the iconic St. Augustine building that houses them, the former Hotel Alcazar.

Through the free guide, visitors can explore the Lightner Museum with interactive maps, audio tours and exhibition highlights. The guide also advances the museum’s commitment to accessibility, with content available in more than 60 languages and features including audio and visual descriptions, written transcripts and screen-reader accessibility.

“Our mission is to make the Lightner Museum’s extraordinary collections and history accessible to as many people as possible, and Bloomberg Connects allows us to extend that mission far beyond our walls,” said David Bagnall, executive director of the Lightner Museum. “Our guide invites people to discover the Lightner in ways that fit their lives, whether they are exploring our galleries in person, preparing for a visit or experiencing the museum from across the world.”

The Lightner Museum joins a growing community of museums featured on the app, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, Walker Art Center, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Design Museum in London, El Museo del Barrio, The Frick Collection and ICA Miami, among others.

The Lightner Museum’s digital guide is available for free through the Bloomberg Connects app. Visitors can download the free app on Apple Store or Google Play, or by going to lightnermuseum.org/digitalguide.
