Giving back to the community is something that people attempt to do throughout the year, but thanks to a unique partnership within the local nonprofit scene has led to a 24-hour period on May 7 and 8 designated as Giving Day 2025 in St. Johns County.
This will be the seventh year the designated day has taken place, and the online event will be hosted by John 1:16 Foundation, a St. Augustine-based public charity, and sponsored by Endless Summer Realty and The FOCUS Group in hopes of inspiring generosity and compassion throughout the community.
More than $530,000 was raised from 2,434 donors during the 24-hour period, with all the money going toward more than 62 nonprofits across the community.
This year’s Giving Day will begin at noon on Wednesday, May 7 and conclude at noon on Thursday, May 8.
Giving Day 2025 is being promoted as an opportunity where anyone in the community can be a philanthropist because every dollar no matter how much will make a difference and help someone nearby in need.
People can give to the cause and take part in Giving Day by going to www.givingday2025.com where users can donate and search for various nonprofit organizations to find one that fits their passion.
Links to the nonprofits’ websites and/or social media will also be available so that a connection can truly be made and a one-time donation can possibly turn into something much more and be the beginning of a larger volunteer relationship moving forward.
Anyone can stay up to date on updates surrounding the charitable initiative by going to its social media channels @givingday2025 on Instagram and by searching St. Augustine Giving Day on Facebook.
The community can reshare posts and interact with the local community online by using #GivingDay2025.
