OneJax has announced the recipients of its 2026 Humanitarian Awards, an annual recognition honoring individuals whose leadership and service have contributed to a stronger, more connected Jacksonville community.

This year, OneJax looks forward to welcoming not only civic and business leaders, but also the broader community through general admission. The public is invited to attend, support and stand together in a shared commitment to unity, dialogue and the future of the city.

The annual awards ceremony convenes civic leaders, nonprofit organizations, business professionals and community partners to honor those whose work has helped shape a more resilient and compassionate Jacksonville. The event also supports OneJax’s ongoing efforts to promote dialogue, understanding and cooperation throughout Northeast Florida.

The President’s Medallion will be awarded to Tom Coughlin and Keli Coughlin Joyce in recognition of their unwavering commitment to supporting families facing childhood cancer and ensuring that no child fights alone. The President’s Medallion honors individuals who exemplify the highest ideals of humanitarianism, compassion, respect and understanding.

The Silver Medallion will be presented to the following honorees in recognition of their meaningful contributions to community leadership and service:

  • The Honorable Betty Burney
  • Angie and Sel Buyuksarac
  • Poppy Clements
  • Charlie Joseph

The OneJax Humanitarian Awards celebrate individuals who demonstrate humanity in action by strengthening relationships, encouraging collaboration and contributing to a shared sense of belonging. The recognition reflects OneJax’s mission to bring people together across perspectives and backgrounds through leadership, service and community engagement.

In Jacksonville, there are people who don’t just listen — they understand. People who don’t just look — they truly see. They do not simply live alongside others; they live with respect and believe that empathy can change everything.

“We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to recognize these outstanding leaders,” said Elizabeth Andersen, chief executive officer of OneJax. “At a time when so much feels polarized and uncertain, their service is an inspiration for our community to embrace curiosity, courage and compassion — essential values for building a stronger, more inclusive Jacksonville where everyone can belong and thrive.”

The event will take place on Thursday, April 30, at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts, 300 Water St., Jacksonville. Sponsors and Signature Access ticket holders will have access from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. General admission (program only) will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
