Public invited to honor veterans at ceremony

Members of the public are invited to celebrate and honor veterans during Veterans Day in St. Augustine, Monday, Nov. 11, at Anastasia Baptist Church, 1650 A1A South.

The event will be hosted by the Veterans Council of St. Johns County along with the Military Officers Association of America, Ancient City Chapter.

The atrium doors open at 9 a.m. On display in the atrium will be the Traveling Vietnam and War on Terror walls and more than 40 display tables from local not-for-profits and military groups, with military displays.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will start promptly at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker is St. Johns County Sheriff Robert A. Hardwick, an Operation Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom veteran.

Nationally acclaimed Vann Morris will perform “Old Glory.” Patriotic entertainment will be provided by the St. Augustine High School Chorale, with participation by local JROTCs and Sea Cadets.

This is a free event with plenty of onsite free parking.
