The annual haunted house at Brookdale Southside, held Tuesday, Oct. 28, began with passage through a spooky graveyard gate into a spider-filled hallway.
Guests entered the haunted living room with spooky photos and a quiet smoldering fire in the fireplace, and then the dining room where they were invited to dine from a buffet of spooky-looking foods.
In the daughter’s room, visitors found spooky-looking dolls, stuffed animals and the daughter with a spooky doll that spoke.
In the sewing room, the mother was making a scary article of clothing. And in the laboratory, a mad scientist was experimenting to find the right formula.
Exiting the house, guests entered the Carnevil, where a band of evil clowns tempted them with games they could not win and tricky treats. A woman with a pumpkin atop her neck asked visitors if they would like to swap heads with her.
The cast included Executive Director Sal DeCaria, Associate Executive Director Karen Cleveland, Sales and Marketing Director Victoria Proctor, Sales and Marketing Coordinator Don Poulin, Resident Service Director Erika Williamson, Engagement Director Anna Bowen, Engagement Coordinator Cristina Pacubas, Engagement Assistant Sue Hickox and Clare Bridge Programs Coordinator Lina Corredor.
The family-friendly event was open to the local families and seniors. The haunted house was followed by a special happy hour at 4 p.m.
Brookdale Southside, a local senior living community, is located at 9601 Southbrook Drive, Jacksonville.
