International on-demand massage service Soothe will bring its services to the First Coast on Dec. 20, adding the River City to its areas of service across the United States, Canada and the U.K. where customers can see certified massage therapists in their homes, offices or hotels.
The company will open its doors just ahead of the Christmas holiday, bringing with it several viable options for the last-minute gift of relaxation. Soothe offers deep tissue, Swedish, sports, couple and prenatal massages at 60, 90 and 120 minute sessions starting at $99.
“We’re pleased to serve the residents of Jacksonville and its visitors,” said Soothe’s Founder and CEO Merlin Kauffman. “Everyone deserves to have a massage after a long day at the office or while on vacation, either as a gift to oneself or another.”
Soothe’s massages tackle a variety of problem areas, the company says; its pre-natal option helps lessen pregnancy discomfort, aches, swelling and stiffness, while a massage tailored for athletes targets fatigue, flexibility and endurance. Others work to decrease stress levels, relax or energize clients.
Kauffman created the company in 2013 while at Harvard Business School during a period when he was frequently traveling and found it difficult to schedule a massage appointment outside of standard business hours. What started as a solution to his own problem has grown into a business, with the number of certified massage therapists on the platform having tripled since last year.
“Our growth is really due to the experience our massage therapists deliver,” Kauffman said. “They provide spa-quality treatments without the hassle of finding parking or dealing with traffic. In addition, our massage therapists earn three to four times more than the industry standard. Soothe is extremely proud to provide flexible work opportunities for therapists.”
