Supermarket evacuated after bomb threat

Publix in Sawgrass Village received a bomb threat on Monday, Dec. 16, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. Publix and surrounding businesses were evacuated as a precaution.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad and Explosive Detection K9s conducted a search and nothing concerning was discovered.

Authorities gave the all-clear at about 1:10 p.m. Police tape was removed five minutes later. Employees went in first and customers were allowed to re-enter the supermarket at about 1:45 p.m.

The businesses were reopened shortly thereafter.
