With 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Dove Awards and a Soul Train Award, the multi-platinum sextet Take 6 will join the Jacksonville Symphony for a 75th Season highlight at 7:30 p.m. March 29 in Jacoby Symphony Hall.
The program, led by Kevin Fitzgerald, will combine live orchestrations with Take 6’s original songs such as “Just in Time,” “What’s Going On,” their new Gospel single “You Deserve It” and many more.
With praise from such luminaries as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and Whitney Houston, this a cappella group has toured across the globe, collaborated across genres and is recognized as the pre-eminent a cappella group in the world, heralded by the late Quincy Jones as the “baddest vocal cats on the planet!”
All six members of Take 6 — Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea and Khristian Dentley — have spent decades preaching respect and love as much as the importance of music and the arts. This strongly aligns with the goals of the Jacksonville Symphony, making this performance a perfect fit for the 75th Anniversary Season.
“Of all the amazing guest artists I have collaborated with during my time at the Jacksonville Symphony, Take 6 is probably the most legendary. For over thirty years, this ensemble has captivated us with their virtuosity, elaborate a cappella harmonies and deeply spiritual music making,” said Fitzgerald. “You do not want to miss this performance!”
Audiences will experience a variety of genres including, jazz, R&B, pop, gospel and orchestral, all in one performance.
Tickets are available at JaxSymphony.org or by calling the box office at 904-354-5547.
