As part of the ongoing County Road 210 widening project, St. Johns County will implement a traffic pattern shift on the night of Friday, Aug. 15.
Beginning that evening, both westbound and eastbound lanes of C.R. 210 will transition from the existing roadway to the newly constructed roadway just east of Stone Creek Circle, returning to the existing roadway at the intersection with Cimarrone Boulevard.
Appropriate signage and roadway striping will be in place to guide drivers through the new configuration. Following the shift, the contractor will begin work between the old and new roadways in front of nearby neighborhoods to construct ramps providing access to the new lanes.
Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution as traffic adjusts to the new pattern. Entering or leaving neighborhoods may be easier outside of peak “rush hour” periods, which can help reduce travel times and congestion.
The county is also encouraging drivers accessing Beachwalk to consider alternate access points in order to reduce congestion at the County Road 210 and Interstate 95 intersection during the ongoing widening project.
While many drivers currently enter Beachwalk from the western access at Beachwalk Shore Drive, motorists are welcome to pass this intersection and make a downstream U-turn to stage within the eastbound C.R. 210 approach. Drivers can also use the eastern Beachwalk entrance as an alternative route.
These options are available to help minimize eastbound traffic delays and keep vehicles from stacking at the I-95 and C.R. 210 intersection.
