United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties has announced the launch of the Strategic Grant Fund, a new funding opportunity designed to strengthen smaller, grassroots nonprofit organizations that are making measurable differences in the lives of residents across the region.

The Strategic Grant Fund provides financial support to organizations that may not have access to United Way’s traditional Community Impact funding. By investing in local initiatives, United Way aims to empower community-driven solutions and expand access to essential resources for those who need them most.

Grant applications must align with at least one of the following impact areas:

  • Housing Stability: Programs promoting affordable housing, homelessness prevention or supportive housing.
  • Financial Security: Initiatives that increase economic mobility, workforce readiness or financial literacy.
  • Food Insecurity: Efforts providing access to nutritious food or addressing hunger among vulnerable populations.
  • Education: Programs that improve early learning, student success or adult education outcomes.

The maximum award amount is $7,500 per organization. Funds may be used for programmatic support, direct services or capacity-building efforts directly tied to the approved impact area.

Eligible applicants must be recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in good standing serving St. Johns and/or Putnam counties.

The application period is open now and will close Nov. 28. Notification of awards will be made Dec. 5.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties reserves the right to request additional documentation or clarification during the review process.

“Through the Strategic Grant Fund, we’re investing in the power of local organizations who know their communities best,” said Carl Cricco, president and CEO of United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties. “These smaller nonprofits are on the frontlines of change, and this fund will help amplify their impact where it’s needed most.”
