Village Arts Framing & Gallery held their open house on Saturday, Nov. 8. The gallery, which celebrated 50 years in April, showcased the stunning artwork of local artists. Owner and artist Pamela Keegan and artist Cindy Zeigler welcomed visitors to enjoy an afternoon of art.
The walls were full of beautiful landscapes, portraits, birds, boats, flowers and seascapes. Each painting was intricately detailed and showed the skill and talent of the artist. The gallery walls also featured a variety of frames, perfect for every customer’s framing needs. Wine and refreshments were available to gallery visitors to sip and shop for some early holiday gifts including mini paintings and greeting cards.
In addition to viewing the artwork, gallery guests got to see live art demonstrations by some of the artists in front of the gallery. Lorraine Millspaugh, Rick Petersen, Tom Nagata and Linda Olsen showcased their talent and skill and shared about their art.
Millspaugh is a wildlife photographer and paints from her photos. She is also very involved in conservation and has a heart for saving the oceans. Petersen started out working in computers, but always came back to his passion for art. He used chalk and pastels to create a lovely seascape
Nagata studied graphic design and was an educator for many years. His wife, Judy, explained how detailed his artistic process is. First, he plans out his painting and draws it by hand. Then, he numbers each section for which color it will be.
Olsen was a professional photographer who traveled the world. Now she focuses on her whimsically detailed art inspired by her love for the ocean.
The open house was a success. Visitors got to view incredible artwork and learn more about the artists who create them. Village Arts Framing and Gallery is sure to foster a love and appreciation for the arts for years to come.
