From Dec. 8-11, Amelia Island once again transformed its historic Centre Street in downtown Fernadina Beach into a 19th-century Christmas village for its annual “Dickens on Centre” holiday event.
Recalling the yuletide celebrations of Charles Dickens’ Victorian England, the downtown experience included horse-drawn carriages, characters and entertainers, festive lights, holiday décor and a variety of dining and entertainment options.
In addition to the downtown restaurants, shops, galleries and other local businesses that participated in the festivities, period street vendors sold handmade crafts and traditional British holiday treats such as meat pies, Scotch eggs, sausage rolls and more.
The “Dickens on Centre” events were complemented by the island’s popular Holiday Home Tour and Bed & Breakfast Holiday Cookie Tour.
