Pivot CPAs Managing Partner Peter Reynolds recently announced the appointment of Jacksonville native Matt Barber as tax manager. This marks a return for Barber to the Jacksonville area and to the firm where he began his career.

Prior to rejoining Pivot, Barber worked in New York City with CitrinCooperman, a large national firm, where he specialized in the consulting and compliance of consolidated corporations, partnerships and their tax provisions.

He has extensive experience working with business owners towards solutions for their tax planning and compliance needs. Before working with CitrinCooperman, Barber began his passion in accounting with Pivot CPAs, then known as The Griggs Group, CPAs.

Barber earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of South Florida and a Master of

Accountancy in taxation from the University of North Florida. He is also a member of the New York State Society of CPAs. He has been involved in community service groups and projects in both New York and Florida. He attributes his collaborative attitude to the training he received while in the U.S. Marines.

“I look forward to becoming part of the business community and the nonprofit community,” Barber said.

“New York provided me with great opportunities and challenges, but there really is no place like North Florida. I’m glad to be back.”

Wendy Ranson, Pivot tax partner and head of human resources, said Barber is a great fit for the business’ brand.

“He believes in providing unparalleled customer service, while continuously strengthening the relationship with the clients he serves,” said Ranson. “The knowledge he gained working in a large firm in New York will serve him and the company well. We are thrilled to have him back.”
