Fall was in the air Oct. 15, when the monthly Nocatee Farmer’s Market took on an autumnal theme for a traditional “Fall Festival.”
In addition to horse-drawn hayrides, the family-friendly event enabled attendees to make scarecrows and view a variety of animals at the on-site petting zoo. Face painting was also available, while entertainment was provided by the Paul Lundgren band.
A special highlight of the event was the Blessing of the Animals conducted by Father Michael Ellis and Father Ian McCarthy of St. Francis-in-the-Field Church. Participants received a St. Francis medallion and certificate to mark the blessing, which was held in conjunction with the festival day honoring St. Francis, the patron saint of animals.
Held on the third Saturday of each month, the Nocatee Farmer’s Market features more than 70 vendors offering fresh produce, specialty food items, jewelry, handmade crafts and more.
