Community Hospice & Palliative celebrated the much-anticipated opening of the Stephen R. Chapman Family Community Campus on June 6. The special ribbon cutting was held at 1355 Dixie Highway.
This unique Community Campus will further Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s commitment to the health and well-being of St. Augustine and St. Johns County residents by offering health services and ensuring individuals are prepared to face the challenges of aging and advanced illness. It will serve as the focal point for Community Hospice & Palliative Care services that occur outside of the acute-care setting of our Bailey Family Center for Caring at Flagler Hospital.
The campus will include:
• A Conference and Education Center featuring four flexible conference rooms with 2,122 square feet of meeting space
• Corporate and Clinical Offices for the St. Augustine-based care teams, featuring private offices and workstations with space for grief and bereavement counseling and workshops
• An Upscale Resale Store with a large sales floor and donation drop-off area
“Community Hospice began serving this community in 1985, and throughout the years since, we have remained committed to growing to meet our expanding community’s needs,” said Susan Ponder-Stansel, President & CEO, Community Hospice & Palliative Care. “The opening of the Stephen R. Chapman Family Community Campus will allow us to expand our educational and community service activities in ways that would be impossible without this wonderful new facility. We believe it will become a focal point for our outreach and community engagement and are thrilled that we will be able to have this beautiful and accessible space to support these important activities that will make a positive contribution to our quality of life here.”
Philanthropic support was vital to establish this community resource. The financial commitment of longtime area philanthropists, Stephen and Christine Chapman made this dynamic project come to life.

Community Hospice & Palliative Care has served St. Augustine and St. Johns County residents for more than 30 years. Community Hospice looks forward to strengthening its presence as the compassionate guide in St. Augustine and pursuing future opportunities with the new Stephen R. Chapman Family Community Campus.
