Dogs, accompanied by their two-legged pals, gathered last Saturday to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Markland’s newest amenity, the Markland Dog Park.
The event benefited the Human Society and provided an opportunity for pet-related vendors to display their products and to meet Markland residents. The developer of the rapidly growing St. Johns County neighborhood, Hines, carved out a tranquil and tree-lined acre for the creation of the new space.
“We felt that Markland’s residents deserved a best-in-class dog park,” said Kevin Jund, associate at Hines. “And that meant carefully locating it in a beautiful natural setting, nestled around mature shade trees and existing vegetation. The dog park is a fantastic new addition to the amenity line-up here at Markland.”
The Markland Dog Park is equipped with a hydration station (for both dogs and their owners), a dog cleaning station, and doggy waste disposal system.
Pet owners and residents were treated with food trucks, face-painting and a balloon artist, as
their pets enjoyed the expansive new space. Music was provided by Tad Jennings.
The dog park is open from dusk to dawn and is available to all Markland residents and patrons. Providence Homes and Dream Finders Homes had tables set up for people to learn more about the homes they are building in Markland. Other booths included AO Fragrances, St. Augustine Humane Society, DogTown USA and Dog Days and Cat Naps. A silent auction was held, which featured donations from Pet Tech, where owners can learn about pet CPR and first aid, Chef Phil’s BBQ Sauces and Rubs, Dogtopia, The Great Harvest Bread Company, Orange Theory Fitness, Mura Bella Animal Hospital, Whisker Lane Pet boutique, Dog Town USA, and a big basket of dog goodies from Coldwell Banker Premier Properties agents.
