Health Partners, a functional medicine practice in Ponte Vedra Beach, hosted an open house event on Dec. 7 that featured a holiday pop-up shop with items made by survivors of human trafficking and extreme poverty.

Some of these items came from Rethreaded, a Jacksonville-based entrepreneurship that is attempting to break the cycle of the sex trade by offering viable and creative work to those affected by the industry. Locally, Rethreaded provides a three month on-site job training program for women in the Jacksonville area who are coming out of lives of addiction, violence, human trafficking and prostitution.

Globally, Rethreaded operates as a distribution company that sells products made by women from all over the world who have found freedom from the sex trade. The organization offers everything from its "grace scarves" to handmade bags, jewelry, handmade quilts and more. Twenty-five percent of the supplement purchases made at Health Partners during the open house benefitted Rethreaded. Visit http://www.rethreaded.com for more information.

The open house also featured items from Twig & Vine Co., a social enterprise jewelry collection designed to break the cycles of poverty within some of the world’s more disadvantaged communities. The organization is working to employ marginalized woman at fair trade wages to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families.

Each Twig & Vine purchase helps to provide vocational training, life skill classes, wellness training, a safe place to stay and nourishing meals for those in the Orphan Transition Program. Currently, the program hosts five ladies, each transitioning out of traditional orphan care. These ladies have survived human trafficking, abuse and extreme poverty. Located at 100 Executive Way, Suite 100, in Ponte Vedra Beach, Health Partners LLC provides area residents with a relationship-focused option that staff members say bridges the gap between traditional, prescription-based primary care and alternative treatment.
