Vernon’s at Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa hosted a small group of local business leaders on Thursday to promote its new happy hour and kick off the Ponte Vedra Recorder’s “Cheers to 50 Years” anniversary celebration.

Attendees enjoyed various cocktails including an old fashioned and Aperol spritz, as well as several small plates. Known as V Hour, the happy hour was launched within the last seven months. Held Monday to Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the menu features half-priced house wines, well liquors and domestic and import beers, as well as small plates such as fish & frites ($7), crostini ($6), beef tenderloin tips ($9) and oysters ($2 each). Parking is free with restaurant validation.

Aaron Weegar, director of sales and marketing at the Sawgrass Marriott, said the hope is for local residents to enjoy the happy hour on a regular basis.

“Our Executive Chef Joe Natoli has developed Vernon’s menu to reflect local homegrown ingredients,” Weegar told the Recorder in an email. “This local approach ties into the local patrons we are also welcoming.

“The hotel has a rich history acting as a warm welcoming safe haven for the local community to enjoy the vibrant hotel food and beverage offerings,” Weegar continued. “Vernon’s V Hour is the perfect setting for the local community to continue our rich tradition together.”

Event attendees also interacted with staff from the Ponte Vedra Recorder, who partnered with the Sawgrass Marriott on the event. The Recorder is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
