Now that social distancing and COVID-19 concerns are a part of day-to-day living, conventional tailgating is not an option for most people this year. Although tailgating at home is a great way to experience football season, some people still want the experience of hosting celebrations outside of their homes.
Airstream Ventures is a Jacksonville event management company that partners with events, venues, companies and nonprofits to create engaging experiences that bring the community together. Airstream Ventures has partnered with River City Railway to provide a unique tailgating experience to the people of Jacksonville.
“These railcars have been there for 15 years, and they are available to rent for tailgating for the first time,” said Joel Lamp, senior director of Events and Tourism at Airstream Ventures, explaining that the railcars are set up like miniature condos to provide guests with all the amenities they need. “We have done tailgating events in the past but the ‘railgating’ experience is new to Jacksonville,” he said.
Lamp said the idea was inspired by a similar setup in Columbia, South Carolina.
Rather than crowding together in tailgating lots, River City Railway and Airstream Ventures are offering railcar rentals to the people of Jacksonville to enjoy their pre- and postgame celebrations. There will be multiple options available to tailgaters, including private railcars that can host up to 16 guests or single tickets that allow access to VIP railcars. Although several different package options are available, each railcar tailgating experience comes with unlimited food and beverages provided by choice vendors. This allows eventgoers to celebrate football season without compromising the health and safety of themselves or their loved ones.

Although the pandemic has changed many things in the day-to-day lives of everyone across the globe, it doesn’t have to spell the end of football fun.
