Ocean Palms Elementary School Embraces the New School Year

Posted

The new school year is in full swing, and Ocean Palms Elementary School has embraced it with a back-to-school staff appreciation breakfast and lunch, a “Meet the Teacher event” and a “Tea and Tissues” gathering.

Teachers and staff were welcomed back to school on Aug. 9 with a buffet breakfast of muffins, donuts, scones, fruit, bagels and yogurt, followed by lunch from Zoës Kitchen. Additionally, their welcome back included stepping back in time, with an ’80s-themed first day. In fact, they were “walking on sunshine.”

Next, students and families embarked on the back-to-school season with the “Meet the Teacher” event on Aug. 13. Students and families could meet their new teachers in their classrooms throughout the morning, as well as shop at the school’s Scholastic book fair, purchase apparel and learn about the school at this kick-off event.

Finally, Aug. 20 marked the school’s “Tea and Tissues” gathering for kindergarten parents. Here, parents could mingle with other kindergarten parents, the PTO and the principal and assistant principal, while munching on bagels and sipping coffee.

It was a back-to-school series of events for all, because, as staff and students at Ocean Palms Elementary say, “Every day, everyone, everything matters!”
