The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach recognized the service and volunteerism of its members at its end-of-year awards ceremony on Thursday, June 27, at Marsh Landing Country Club.

Former Ponte Vedra Recorder editor Jon Blauvelt received the club’s most honorable and prestigious award, with President Vickie Cavey naming him Rotarian of the Year. Blauvelt was recognized for his publicity efforts and overall dedication to the club.

Joni Zwick received the Don Blackburn Award for her leadership as Rotary Foundation chair. Mary Marx took home the Service Above Self Award for her commitment to the club’s Rotary Youth Exchange program. A new award, the Dr. Leone Farrell award, was presented to Ed Dalton for his support of the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra, a new club chartered in April 2018. Rounding out the club’s individual awards, Jessica Evans received the Rookie of the Year Award.

In addition to the awards, Cavey recognized the club’s board of directors, committee heads, and several other members who contributed to the year’s success. A select group of members (Paul Harris Fellows) were also recognized for their contributions to the Rotary Foundation to support its charitable and humanitarian work around the world.

The event additionally served as an opportunity to celebrate the club’s 36th birthday. Charter members Bill Hill, Jim Hoener, and Al Hammack were all recognized for their longstanding commitment to the club since 1983.

“It was another fantastic year for the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach,” President Vickie Cavey said. “I’d like to thank all of our members for being people of action who work hard to create lasting change in our community and in our world.”
