On Oct. 21, students at Ocean Palms Elementary School launched into full stride as they ran laps with friends, family, staff and Ollie the Otter to raise money for the school as part of OPE’s space-themed Otter Run. From rocket booster accessories to various animal ensembles to USA-themed attire, students came dressed “out of this world” as they prepared to blast off at the starting line.
This year’s Otter Run raised approximately $57,000, with 89% of students at the school bringing in donations. These fundraising dollars will be used to help purchase updated iPads, computers and a charging cart for the school.
In celebration, students earned school-wide incentives as they raced to space. Students participated in a stomp rocket challenge in PE, cheered on teachers and staff in a pie eating contest and are preparing for the sumo party showcase — a crowd favorite!
Together, these student stars joined forces to shine bright for Ocean Palms. The event was sponsored by Fishman Pediatric Dentistry.
